QuantumCor is a medical device company
focused on the development of minimally invasive therapeutic
options for the effective treatment of mitral valve
regurgitation.
Today patients suffering from mitral valve
regurgitation are managed with life style modification and drug
therapies. When the patient no longer responds to
medications, the only method
to repair the diseased mitral valve requires extensive open heart
surgery, subjecting the patient to a high risk surgical procedure
and lengthy recovery time.
The minimally invasive devices
being developed by QuantumCor will allow physicians to treat
patients much earlier in the disease process. Patients
will be treated with a minimally invasive procedure in the
cardiac cath lab and most patients will be able to go home the
same day.
