and managed the organizations that developed and brought
numerous high value cardiovascular devices to market. Vern has also built
and managed several emerging companies serving as Chief
Executive Officer.

Inc., a company developing implantable technology for the
management of congestive heart failure
- Built high performing
organizations for Cordis Corporation and CPI/Guidant
- Part of the team that brought the
Implantable Defibrillator (AICD) to market which now represents
a multi-billion dollar market and is a key product line
for Medtronic, St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific
Corporation
- Effectively turned around a failing health
care service company, returned it to profitability then
completed the sale to a multi-billion dollar corporation
- Built and served as CEO of emerging companies
including HMC, Inc., InfoMedics and VascuSense

Duane has an extensive and highly successful
track record managing and directing engineering and product
development organizations with a focus on cardiovascular and
endovascular technologies.
- Background includes vice president and
director level responsibilities in
Engineering, New Product Development, Research & Development,
Quality Management, Science & Technology and Business
Development
- Held senior positions with
major cardiovascular companies including ACS/Guidant, Medtronic
and the Bentley division of Baxter Healthcare.
- Founded Rhythmetrics, Inc., an
electrophysiology and ablation catheter company. Merged
Rhythmetrics into Cardima, Inc.,, served as V.P. New Product
Development for the combined company
- Was employee #4 with Volcano
Therapeutics
Tom Witzel Director of
Pre-Clinical Studies
Tom has extensive experience
managing and participating in pre-clinical surgical procedures
and studies. He has an outstanding background working with leading edge
cardiovascular technologies including heart
valves and other endovascular devices.
- Managed the animal lab facilities for
University of California at San Diego and for Edwards
Lifesciences, a leading cardiovascular and heart valve company
- Managed entire pre-clinical
process including pre-clinical studies, design and
implementation of protocols focused on feasibility and GLP
studies
- Provided pre-clinical animal testing
consulting for cardiovascular companies such as Ventrica,
HeartPort and 3F Therapeutics
- Served as a Senior Research
Associate for the Department of Surgery, University of
California Medical Center where he participated in pre-clinical
and clinical studies
