QuantumCor is a medical device company developing technologies that will allow physicians to repair a diseased and dysfunctional mitral heart valve in a minimally invasive cardiac cath lab procedure, eliminating the need for open heart surgery. 

There are an estimated 3 million patients in the U.S. who suffer from functional mitral regurgitation.  Since the only definitive treatment  requires open heart surgery, repair is not normally considered until valve disease has progressed and the patient is highly symptomatic.  Unfortunately, by that time, co-morbidities including congestive heart failure (CHF), atrial fibrillation (AF) and advanced cardiovascular disease render many patients "high risk" and ineligible for surgery. 

Our "disruptive" technology will provide a "Transcatheter", or minimally invasive alternative, for "high risk" patients.  Additionally, as this technology is better understood, we believe physicians will consider offering transcatheter mitral valve repair to patients earlier in their disease process before co-morbidities, have compromised their health.
